Microsectioning
Robisan Laboratory
is prepared for large volume production of microsections which need to target a specific
area. We have the ability to drill alignment holes in any coupon or board configuration
provided. These holes enable us to place numerous sections in each mount. Lot conformance
testing is typically completed by the end of the next business day, after receipt of the
coupons.

Whenever possible, many samples are placed in the same mount. This is accomplished through
the use of alignment holes and pins. The holes are drilled using a grid on a 10x
comparator. This technique allows us to successfully gang mount plated-through holes as
small as 0.008 inches finished diameter. (Drill is shown to the left)
Robisan Laboratory primarily uses automated grinding and polishing to prepare samples for
inspection. We use the LECO AP400 to polish our mounts. (Polisher is shown below)
To prepare the samples we use the following:
Vibrating scribe for permanent marking
0.012 inch diamond cut-off wheels
1 inch diameter mounts
Crystal clear epoxy
thermosetting resin
